Annual Pedal Paddle Puff Triathlon
Regulations
__________________
GENERAL:
1. The Pedal, Paddle and Puff Triathlon is a fun race open to all amateur persons who desire to compete against others in canoeing/kayaking, biking and running. A "TEAM" consists
of 1) one bicyclist, 2) two people in a canoe or one person in a kayak, 3) one runner. The "IRON" division is one person competing in all three legs of the race.
2. Any person who is making a majority of their income from competing in the sport they intend to enter will be considered a professional and will not be eligible for prizes.
3. The racing committee reserves the right to disqualify an entrant who does not abide by established race rules or whose equipment is deemed to be unsafe for the event in which the person is entered. (See rules for boating and biking).
4. A person on a relay team may compete on only one team.
5. The race will consist of five divisions based on the following:
6. All decisions are final the day of the race.
7. Teams must register no later than 9:00 a.m., July 4, 2013 at Haller City Park.
8. "Release and Hold Harmless Agreement" must be signed by each team member prior to the start of the race.
BIKING:
1. No drafting will be allowed.
2. Bikers must not cross the roadway centerline except in
emergency.
3. Helmets must be worn throughout the race.
4. Bikers will be responsible for following State of Washington rules for safe bicycling.
BOATING:
1. Only standard canoes and kayaks approved by the racing committee will be allowed. Open/sit on top recreational tandem kayaks may be used by the local and family teams.
2. Coast Guard approved life jackets must be worn in the approved manner.
3. All canoeists must use a single-blade paddle.
4. Boaters may portage their boats in shallows, but must remain in the confines of the
riverbanks.
5. No rudders may be used by canoes or kayaks. Boats with rudders must be taped static.
RUNNING:
1. Runners will follow a well-defined route and will be checked at various checkpoints to ensure adherence to the course.
